New Hampshire fabricators and local legislators gather with Gov. Chris Sununu to sign HB1503

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu signed HB1503 on Monday afternoon at Capone Iron Corporation’s North Woods location, ensuring that taxpayer money spent on state-funded construction projects in the Granite State will be reinvested locally.

HB1503 will give the domestic steel fabrication industry preference for state-funded construction projects in New Hampshire, adding to the more than two dozen states and the federal government that already have Buy America guidelines.

“This bill levels the playing field and helps stimulate and support New Hampshire’s economy while ensuring that taxpayers’ money is carefully and frugally spent for publicly funded projects,” said Stephen Capone, President of Capone Iron Corporation and the Steel Fabricators of New England (SFNE).

Ongoing supply chain issues and product shortages demonstrate how important it is for the United States to increase its domestic manufacturing. Buy America legislation like HB1503 helps ensure that when the government spends taxpayer dollars, that money is reinvested into local communities, boosting their economies and adding jobs.

Partners of SFNE, the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), and the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM), who have been instrumental in aiding our Buy American Efforts have also published updates on the legislation in New Hampshire. Those releases can be found below.
